Omba Trek

The Taktshang of East Bhutan stands as a marvel, perched on a cliff within the sacred pilgrim site of Omba Ney. To reach Taktshang from Nangkhar Gonpa, adventurers embark on a three-hour journey involving a steep descent of 330 meters, followed by a gradual climb of 125 meters. Alternatively, the path from Kheni village offers a three-hour ascent. One unique ritual involves a short crawl through a narrow cave passage perched on the cliff above the lhakhang. This symbolic act is believed to cleanse individuals of their sins. For the more adventurous, an ascent higher up the cliff through a crack in the rock is also possible, providing an even more elevated perspective.
